Blind Descent by James M. Tabor

In 2004 Bill Stone in Cueva Cheve in Mexico and Alexander Klimchouk in Krubera in Georgia were both seeking the deepest cave on earth; both caves were already extreme undertakings, and going deeper was a major challenge. Both men succeeded in at least part of their aims, as told in this book, a New York Times bestseller.

Blind Descent was reviewed in Descent (216), when it was described as 'a ripping good story'. Written for a non-caving public, cavers will enjoy the tale of exploration while being fascinated with a non-caver's perception of the sport's dangers. Well worth the read. The subtitle 'the quest to discover the deepest place on earth' is accurate, even if it ignores other caves and the deep oceans and mines.

As usual, our price for this title includes postage.
