Extreme Scientists by Donna M. Jackson is subtitles 'Exploring nature's mysteries from perilous places', one of which is caves. It concentrates on the work of three scientists, the caving coming from Hazel Barton and her work on cave microbes - this is the same research that she wrote about in a series of articles in Descent in 2017 (issues 255 to 258). The book is picture-rich and attractively produced (Hazel appears on the cover) and possibly is intended to inspire readers in their teens.
