Walks in Limestone Country

From the back cover:

Alfred Wainwright, author of the inimitable best-selling Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells, here describes thirty-four selected walks in the interesting limestone area around the Three Peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. Each has its particular charm or special objective. Each is the subject of a separate chapter containing a diagram, a map, and an illustrated narrative. Also included is a detailed description of the route of the marathon Three Peaks Walk.

For this new edition, every footpath has been re-walked, and every map and diagram checked by Chris Jesty, who assisted with the maps on two of Wainwright's large-format books

As such, this is a classic book first published in 1970 and now reprinted and updated, adding red route marks to some pages, by Frances Lincoln publisher in 2017. Although a 'softback', the cover is actually a very stiff laminated card.

For cavers, note that this covers the areas of Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent and in the course of his walks, Wainwright visited and drew many cave entrances and made notes about these. Looking at his fine drawings is like dipping into history, in some cases of 'how they then looked'. Any caver interested in the Dales will enjoy this book. This is a fine volume, published at £13.99; our price includes postage.

Please see under 'Product details' for information about the condition of this second-hand book; remember, the price includes postage.

Only orders for UK delivery are accepted for this title.
